BEHIND THE LENS with Heather Blevins

I LOVE Photography!!! The ability to capture precious moments in mine and other people's lives is just amazing to me. I feel so Blessed to get to see and be a part of each of my clients and their families lives if for just a brief moment.
​
Photography has always been a huge passion for me. Pictures tell your story even when you can't remember or one can no longer pull them up on their own. I was very close with my Grandfather growing up. He always had the best stories and could really "paint a picture" of it in your head. When he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in his early 60's he retreated and stopped telling stories of his life and war. I always loved listening to them while getting to spending time with him.  One day while visiting him in the nursing home I pulled out a few of his old military photos and pictures of my Grandmother. His face lit up and he slowly starting talking and telling me about the pictures! I had missed him so much and was so glad to have these photos to help him tell his story again.

 

I just hope that these pictures that I take now will help these families continue to tell their story of life and love a long time from now when it may become harder to remember.
